CAS Summer Institute – What a Week!

So many choices…such great sessions!” sums up the comments made during the week-long CAS Summer Institute in August. Professionals attending The Institute chose from over 40 different training sessions covering topics on arts, health, asset-building, community learning centers, parent involvement, tutoring, youth development, etc. In one workshop, participants built and launched rockets to experience “hands-on” science exploration with youth. The Thursday session ended with a late afternoon, “Laugh Out Loud” yoga session and a chance to experience relaxation in a fun and unusual way. On the more serious side, many participants took advantage of the opportunity to learn about the latest research and strategies in the areas of childhood obesity, teen depression, crisis intervention and child abuse/neglect. Participants used the workshop to plan for their after school programs next year, networking with other sites and obtaining information on possible new partnerships. CAS extends a very special Thank You to all of the presenters who made The 2008 Summer Institute possible!
